Airbnb turnover checklist

Every step between one guest leaving and the next arriving, in the order a cleaner does them. For the room-by-room cleaning tasks, use the Airbnb cleaning checklist.

Before you arrive

Check the booking: checkout time, next check-in, guest count
Pack linen and restock for that guest count
Note anything the last cleaner reported

On arrival

Photograph the property as you found it
Check for damage and missing items before you start
Open windows, strip beds, start the first wash

Clean

Work room by room: living, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms
Follow the property checklist, including its amenities
Photograph the rooms the client checks first

Restock

Toilet paper, soap, shampoo, body wash
Dishwashing liquid, sponges, bin bags
Coffee, tea and anything the listing promises

Reset

Make beds, hang towels, stage cushions and throws
Reset TV, air-con and lighting to the default
Leave the welcome guide and Wi-Fi card in place

Close out

Final walk-through against the checklist
Lock up and photograph the lockbox
Report issues with photos, mark the clean finished

Why the order matters

Most turnover problems come from doing things out of order: cleaning before checking for damage, so there is no proof; making beds before the linen count, so a bed is short; locking up before the final walk-through. Work the stages in order and each one sets up the next.
